Alpine Ski World Championships Garmisch 2011: SunKid Wonder Carpets make the public viewing area in Munich accessible

On the occasion of the skiing world championships in Garmisch Partenkirchen (D/Bavaria), Siemens, also being the official outfitter of the event, built a public viewing area in the center of Munich. Aside from a big screen on which all ski races are broadcast live, there is a special highlight. A 19-meter wide and 40-meter long ramp offers the opportunity to practice winter sports for free right in the middle of the city. Two SunKid Wonder Carpets of a total length of 64 meters carry winter sports enthusiasts to starting points at various heights.
A SunKid Rotondo, as well as various products from the Sunny Stuff range complete the offer and make sports and fun possible for the big and small.

Around a half meter of snow, produced on-site using eco-power without any biological or chemical supplements, builds the foundation for fun on the slopes at a 22 percent incline, Therefore steep enough to make some moves in the snow on skis or snowboard, according to ability. Alternatively, visitors can slide down the hill in a snow tube or toboggan. Yet no matter what winter sports equipment is used, everybody goes up the hill always in less than a minute on one of the Wonder Carpets from SunKid. When it’s dark they are bathed in blue light.

The combination of the safety and comfort of a conveyor belt won over the operators of SNOW CITY.

Due to the highly varied skiing abilities of the users and the variety of sports equipment that needs to be transported, the SunKid Wonder Carpet presents itself as the perfect transportation solution for such exceptional events as well.
In the “valley” of the SNOW CITY, a Kids‘ Ski Circus with a SunKid Rotondo and tubes guarantee fun for the youngest visitors. Kids and teens can borrow ski equipment for free and ski instructors from the German Ski Association also give free ski lessons for kids from social institutions and kindergardens.
