Reit im Winkl (D): The Wonder Carpet and Cable Car as an environmentally friendly transport alternative.

The Wonder Carpet replaces regular bus service

The high plateau of the Winklmoos Alm, at an altitude of about 1,200 m, is along with the Austrian ski area on the Waidring Steinplatte, a major ski center in the Chiemgau Alps. Vacation homes and alpine huts make up the area of the Winklmoos Alm. Getting there by driving up to the Alm by car is possible only during summer.

In winter, the Alm could only be reached by regular bus transportation. Since the last winter season, the buses have been replaced by a cable car and a 114 meter long SunKid Wonder Carpet. From the cable car mountain station, the Wonder Carpet serves as a link for winter sports enthusiasts, as well as guests vacationing at Winklmoos Alm. The implementation of this transport alternative saves 50000 liters of diesel fuel annually and allows guests and the environment to breathe more freely.
