Enjoy Winter Fun on Austria’s longest covered SunKid wonder carpet conveyor
Ellmau, a village with 2,600 inhabitants is situated at 804m on the Wilden Kaiser, approximately 20 km east of Wörgl and just 10 km away from Kitzbühel.
In association with the neighbouring villages of Söll, Brixen im Thale, Going, Scheffau and Westendorf, Ellmau belongs to the biggest and best-connected ski area in Austria – the ski world of the “Wilder Kaiser/Brixental”. Here one can utilise 90 skilifts spanning some 250 km of ski slopes.
A Children’s paradise full of attractions
Not far from the centre of village is the children’s area of Ellmau’s “Top Ski School”. Such a variety of activities is available that it is not only the young children, but the older ones as well, who are free to enjoy all the area has to offer and let off some steam. The children’s area offers many attractions including the SunKid Rotondo and Tubing carousel, many figures, bouncy castles and half pipes, a total of 3 SunKid wonder carpets, practice ski run and much more.

111m Wonder carpet with Gallery
Recently the children’s area has become the home of the longest wonder carpet in Austria. This wonder carpet is completely covered, is 111m in length and was installed by Sunkid in autumn 2005. The gallery has an internal width of 1.8m and an inside height of 2.2m and its modular method of construction is a well-tried and tested format. It has been designed with safety in mind and offers 1.2m wide openings on both sides at 1.8m intervals which make it possible to get off at any time.

The end result is the safe transportation of young and old alike to the practice ski run and to the main attraction of the children’s’ area – the Snow tubing track.
The fun doesn’t end in the day – have fun Snowtubing in the evening too.
The thrill of Snow tubing can be enjoyed from 10.00 until 21.00, illuminated by light and accompanied by music. You can move rapidly downwards with the SunKid snowtubes and a last steep curve more than three meters high will make you with total certainty to stop at the end of the slope.

In Retrospect
Ski School manager Peter Haider comments:
“The successful partnership with SunKid has already been in existence for quite some time. This is as a direct result of the professional service and high quality of the product on offer which has attributed to the realisation of the SunKid project”.
“Snow tubing has been well publicised on television by RTL 2 and ORF Tyrol who have reported extensively on its appeal as one of the main attractions of the region. In the evenings, there are regular bus services which are only in operation due to the success of Snow tubing”. “The majority of guests fall in to the 20-40 age category”, explains Haider “and children aged 5 years and over already enrolled at the ski school can tube free of charge. We think that the start has been so successful that it won’t be long until we extend the area.
